FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do You File The Appeal For Me?

No. Fair Tax Appeal provides an informational Assessment Review Report. You file directly with your county and stay in control throughout.

Do You Guarantee Tax Savings?

No. No tax savings or appeal outcome is guaranteed. The county may leave the assessment unchanged.

Do I Need To Know Whether I Want To Appeal Before Starting?

No. Start with a free Assessment Review. We look at the numbers first and tell you whether the data appears worth a closer look.

What Happens If The Data Does Not Support Moving Forward?

We tell you honestly, at no charge. We only offer the paid report when the review suggests the data appears worth a closer look.

Could My Assessment Go Up If I Challenge It?

Assessment review rules vary by county and state. Fair Tax Appeal does not decide your assessment and cannot guarantee how a county will respond. Our role is to help you review the available data before you decide whether filing makes sense. Verify the current process and any risks with your county before filing.

What Comparable Sales Do You Use?

We look for similar properties based on available public records and market data, considering factors such as location, property type, living area, age, assessment level, and recent sales where available.

What Is Included In The Report?

The report includes a Property and Assessment Summary, Comparable-Sales Review, Evidence Findings and Review Summary, an Illustrative Tax-Impact Estimate where sufficient information is available, an Editable Homeowner Statement or Letter Template, an Evidence and Filing Checklist, and County Filing Reminders and Next Steps.

How Much Does It Cost?

The Assessment Review is free. The Assessment Review Report is a flat $79, offered only if your review suggests a closer look. There is no contingency fee and no percentage of any reduction.

How Do I Pay, And When Does The Report Arrive?

The Free Assessment Review is generally completed within two business days. If your review suggests a closer look, we email you a secure checkout link. After payment and receipt of any required information, your Assessment Review Report is generally delivered by email as a PDF within three business days.

Can I Edit The Homeowner Statement?

Yes. The homeowner statement is starting language you can adapt. Edit it to reflect your own facts, county form, and filing requirements.

Do I Still Need To Verify County Requirements?

Yes. County rules, forms, fees, and deadlines can change. Verify current filing requirements with the official county property appraiser, assessor, value adjustment board, or other applicable county office before filing.

Is This Legal, Tax, Or Appraisal Advice?

No. Fair Tax Appeal provides an informational review only. It is not legal advice, tax advice, or a certified appraisal.
